minutesI’ve been craving a breakfast that looks spectacular but is also surprisingly easy to make. Marble waffles strike that perfect balance between vanilla and cocoa, and their fluffy texture with a slightly crisp exterior makes them irresistible from the very first bite. The marbled effect is always my favorite part — no two waffles ever turn out exactly the same, and that’s exactly what makes them special.
This time, I made them using my new Heinner waffle maker, which also gave them that lovely heart shape. Alongside them, I prepared two types of coffee with the Heinner espresso machine with milk reservoir — the dense foam and creamy texture perfectly completed the whole moment.
It’s the kind of small detail that completely changes the experience and makes breakfast even more enjoyable. Let me show you how simple and quick they are to prepare!
Ingredients
2 eggs~200 ml milk
2–3 tablespoons Greek yogurt
1–2 tablespoons sugar
~180–220 g flour (added gradually, depending on consistency)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (for half of the batter)
1–2 tablespoons extra milk (for the cocoa portion)
Preparation method:
- These quantities yield approximately 4–6 waffles, depending on the size of your waffle maker. You can serve them plain or customize them to your taste.

- We start with the batter base. Crack the eggs into a bowl and lightly whisk them together with the sugar, just until combined and slightly creamy. There’s no need to mix too vigorously, only enough to bring the ingredients together well.
Add the milk and Greek yogurt, and if using, the vanilla extract as well. Gently mix until you get a smooth, even mixture.
- Gradually incorporate the flour along with the baking powder until the batter reaches a thick, creamy consistency, similar to sour cream. It’s important that it’s neither too runny nor too dense.

- Divide the batter into two equal bowls. In one of them, add the cocoa powder, 1–2 tablespoons of milk, and optionally a little sugar. Mix until smooth and well combined, while the other batter remains plain.

- Preheat the waffle maker, and once it’s ready, start pouring in the batter. Alternate between the plain batter and the cocoa batter, then gently swirl them together with a teaspoon or a skewer to create the marbled effect. Don’t overmix—just enough to form the pattern.

- Close the waffle maker and let the waffles cook until golden and nicely browned, about 3–5 minutes, depending on your appliance.
Carefully remove them and let them cool slightly for a few moments, during which they become lightly crisp on the outside while remaining soft and fluffy on the inside.

- Waffles are best served warm, when they are slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. You can top them with your favorite additions: fresh strawberries, melted chocolate, honey, or even a generous spoonful of Greek yogurt.

- A good coffee on the side makes everything even more special. I served them with two types of coffee, prepared using the Heinner espresso machine with milk reservoir — the fine foam and creamy texture paired perfectly with the warm waffles.
