Ice cream is, without a doubt, one of the most beloved summer desserts. The best part is that during this season we can fully enjoy fresh fruits, and if we have stocked up in the freezer, now is the perfect time to turn them into a delicious and refreshing dessert.
For the first tested recipe, I couldn’t choose anything other than cherries – the stars of early summer. Sweet, aromatic, and full of flavor, they turn into a creamy and delicate ice cream, perfect for hot days.
In today’s modern world, making ice cream no longer means spending hours watching the clock and constantly stirring the mixture to achieve a smooth texture. The process is now much simpler and more accessible.
For this recipe, I successfully tested the Fram FICM-DW16GR ice cream maker, with a built-in compressor and a 1-liter capacity. I really liked that it does not require pre-freezing the bowl and that it can prepare ice cream, sorbets, or other frozen desserts with minimal effort. Basically, we add the ingredients, turn on the machine, and let it handle the hard work.
And now, let’s see how easy it is to prepare this delicious cherry yogurt ice cream!
Ingredients
500 g Greek yogurt
300 g pitted cherries
200 g sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
2–3 tablespoons sugar for the cherries
Preparation method
- For this recipe, we can use either fresh or frozen cherries. If using frozen fruit, it is recommended to let them thaw before preparation and remove any excess liquid. Greek yogurt provides thickness and creaminess, while condensed milk helps achieve a smooth and velvety texture.

- Preparing the cherries
Place the cherries, sugar, and lemon juice in a pan and cook over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, until the fruit softens and releases its juices. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
If you prefer, you can mash the cherries into a puree, but we like having pieces of fruit in the ice cream, so we left them as they are.

- Preparing the ice cream base
In a large bowl, add the Greek yogurt, condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous composition. Add the cooled cherry mixture and gently fold it in.

- Making the ice cream
Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and start the program according to the manufacturer’s instructions. After about 60 minutes, the ice cream will have a creamy and airy consistency.

- Serve the ice cream immediately for a soft-serve-like consistency, or transfer it into a container and freeze it for another 2–3 hours for a firmer texture.

- For a special presentation, you can garnish with fresh cherries, cherry sauce, or a little grated lime zest. The ice cream can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. For easier scooping, it is recommended to remove it from the freezer 10–15 minutes before serving.

- If you are looking for a refreshing, simple, and flavorful dessert, this cherry yogurt ice cream is the perfect choice. With just a few ingredients and an ice cream maker that does most of the work, you will get a creamy and delicious dessert, ideal for the whole family. Enjoy!
