minutesThe last festive recipe of the year wouldn’t be complete without the seasonal fruits: oranges and cranberries. It’s a dessert that will impress without spending hours in the kitchen.
The combination of cheese and oranges might not be very well known, but the taste is truly enchanting. The smooth sweet cheese filling, flavored with fresh orange zest and complemented by the tartness of dried cranberries, creates a perfect balance between sweet and fruity.
The buttery crust comes together quickly and works perfectly for a relaxing afternoon or a festive meal. I love serving this tart to family or close friends, as it always brings smiles and a touch of celebration. This step-by-step recipe will guide you to a creamy, flavorful, and visually stunning dessert, right in the comfort of your own home.
Ingredients
- Ingredients for the crust
120 g flour
60 g cold butter, cubed
1 tablespoon sugar
A pinch of salt
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon cold water (if needed)
Zest of 1 orange
- Ingredients for the cheese filling
275 g fresh cheese, well drained
2 eggs
3–4 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
2 tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Zest of 1 orange
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
50 ml orange juice
Preparation method:
- Using a food processor makes the dough more uniform and saves time, but if you don’t have one, you can knead the dough by hand, following the same steps.

- Add all the ingredients to the food processor bowl, except for the water, and pulse until you get a crumbly mixture. If needed, add a little cold water until the dough comes together into a ball. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

- Roll out the dough into a tart pan about 22–24 cm in diameter and prick the bottom with a fork. Bake the crust in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 12–15 minutes, until it turns lightly golden.

- Prepare the filling by mixing the fresh cheese with the egg, sugar, cream, cornstarch, orange zest, and vanilla until smooth and well combined. Gently fold in the dried cranberries.

- Pour the filling over the pre-baked crust and bake the tart for another 25–30 minutes, until the filling is set and lightly golden on top. Let it cool completely before serving.

- Decorate with thin slices of orange for a beautiful visual effect. It is delicious both chilled and at room temperature. This recipe is easy to follow and promises a creamy, flavorful, and visually stunning dessert that will impress family and friends effortlessly, just as I mentioned at the beginning.
I hope this recipe will come in handy when time isn’t exactly on your side. Enjoy and happy baking!
