Christmas Wreath became more and more popular, representing a central piece on the holiday table. They can be salty or sweet and demonstrate the ability of housewives to create something wonderful for the family or guests. With patience and a lot of love for what you do, you can create such a wonder for your loved ones, by following the recipe step by step.

Ingredients

  • 600 g of flour

  • 7 g dry yeast

  • 4 egg yolks

  • 100 g of sugar

  • 50 g of butter

  • 100 g yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • a pinch of salt

  • the peel of 1 lemon

  • 200-230 ml warm milk

  • 25 oil

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla sugar

  • 1 red food coloring

  • 1 green food coloring

  • For the filling:
    200 g cream cheese

  • 100 g walnuts

  • 100 g dried cranberries

  • 50 g soft butter

  • 80 g powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Directions

  • The dough for the wreath is very versatile, basically you create a dough according to your preferences. I wanted a very fluffy dough, with the dominant aroma of butter, the subtle filling of cream cheese and not to be extraordinarily sweet but sweet enough for a dessert. Absolutely all ingredients must be at room temperature.
  • I started by adding flour to the bowl of a food processor. I added the yeast, 2 tablespoons of warm milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar, mixed them, and waited 10 minutes for the yeast to activate. Then I added the egg yolks, flavors according to preferences, sugar, yogurt, and warm milk. I added the milk gradually, depending on the flour used, it is possible to add more or less.
  • I divided the obtained dough in half. I colored the first half with red and the other with green. I chose to use these colors because they are specific to Christmas. as a small parenthesis, that red came out more pink to me, so I added a little green to get a darker shade.
  • I let both doughs rise for 1 hour, or until they doubled in volume. After the dough has doubled in size, I spread each piece of dough with oiled hands, smeared them with cream cheese mixed with butter and powdered sugar.
  • I added cranberries to the green dough and chopped walnuts to the red dough. I rolled both doughs as tight as I could, then braided them, and placed them in a tray lined with baking paper, trying to give it a round shape. I let the dough rise for 30 minutes, then I brushed it with egg mixed with milk and sprinkled chopped peanuts on top and 2-3 spoons of sugar (optional).
  • I baked the Christmas Wreath at 170 G for 45-50 min. Halfway through the time, I turned the tray in the oven and covered it with baking paper so that the dough would burn. The aroma of butter filled the whole house. I let The wreath cool for about 30 minutes (because that’s all I had patience for) and then I broke it for tasting.
  • The dough unfolds nicely into strips. It is very fluffy and aromatic, but not very sweet. We preferred it like this, but if you want, you can dust the Christmas Wreath with powdered sugar for more sweetness. I hope you liked the recipe and I await your opinions as soon as possible! Enjoy!
