Ingredientes
280 g all-purpose flour
100 g sugar
80 ml oil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
Zest of 1 large orange (preferably organic)
4–5 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
60 g powdered sugar (for rolling)
60 g granulated sugar (for rolling)
Preparation method
- Tips & Tricks for Success:
If you want an extra-intense orange flavor, add ½ teaspoon of natural orange extract. Don’t skip the chilling step — it helps a lot with shaping the cookies and creating those beautiful cracks.
- Mix the wet ingredients.
Place the egg, sugar, oil, orange zest, and orange juice in a bowl, then add the vanilla extract. Mix well with a whisk or a spoon.

- Incorporate the dry ingredients.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until you get a soft, slightly sticky dough. If you want a more intense color, you can also add a drop of food coloring.

- Chill the dough.
Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes to firm up, making it easier to shape.

- Shape the cookies.
Take small portions of dough and roll them into walnut-sized balls. Roll them thoroughly first in granulated sugar and then in powdered sugar, so they are evenly coated.

- Bake the cookies.
Place the cookie balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes. Do not overbake — they should remain slightly soft in the center. After baking, let the cookies sit on the tray for 2–3 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Serve the orange crinkle cookies alongside a cup of tea, coffee, or a warm citrus drink. If you’re making them for the holidays, arrange them in a nice tin or on a decorative tray — they also make a wonderful edible gift. The cookies stay soft and fresh for 4–5 days when stored in an airtight container.

- Orange crinkle cookies are the kind of dessert that’s simple, quick, and full of flavor. They are easy to make, don’t require butter or special equipment, and deliver that perfect contrast between a slightly crispy exterior and a soft, fragrant interior.
